CAVHCS PHARMACY RESIDENCY PROGRAM PRECEPTORS

Jennifer Cook, Pharm.D.

Dr. Cook earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL.
Following her graduation in 2014, she completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS. In 2015, she accepted a
Clinical Pharmacy Specialist position at CAVHCS where her main practice area is the outpatient anticoagulation clinic.
She serves as co-preceptor for the anticoagulation / cardiology elective rotation.

Alicia Crawford, Pharm.D., BCGP

Dr. Crawford earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2013.
She went on to complete her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS.  Dr. Crawford continued her career at the
CAVHCS as an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Specialist providing care for patients in the Community Living Center.  She is
an affiliate faculty member of Auburn University School of Pharmacy and Hampton University School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Crawford is a co-preceptor for the Community Living Center and Home Based Primary Care rotation.

Spencer Durham, Pharm.D., BCPS (AQ-ID)

Dr. Durham is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Pharmacy Practice with the Harrison School of Pharmacy,
Auburn University. Dr. Durham is originally from Arab, Alabama, and completed his pre-pharmacy coursework at Auburn
University and graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in
2007. Dr. Durham joined the faculty of the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2013. He maintains a practice site
at CAVHCS where he specializes in infectious diseases and offers an infectious disease elective for the PGY-1 pharmacy residents.

Amber Elam, Pharm.D., BCACP

Dr. Elam was born in Charleston, West Virginia, but was raised in Valdosta, GA.  She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from
the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in May 2015.  She completed her pre-pharmacy coursework at Auburn
University at Montgomery (AUM), where she was also a part of the AUM women’s soccer team.  Dr. Elam completed her PGY-1
Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS.  Her clinical interests include ambulatory care, infectious disease, and anticoagulation. 
After completing her PGY-1, Dr. Elam accepted a position with CAVHCS as a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Clinical Pharmacy
Specialist at the Ft. Benning Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.

Rashida Fambro, Pharm.D., BCPP

Dr. Fambro received her BS in Chemistry from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2003 and then earned her Doctor
of Pharmacy degree from Florida Agricultural Mechanical University in 2008. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice
Residency and a PGY-2 Specialty Residency in Psychiatry at the Malcom A. Randall Veterans Health Care System in Gainesville, Florida.
Dr. Fambro accepted a position at CAVHCS in 2010 as Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Psychiatry. She precepts residents during their
psychiatry and longitudinal inter-professional mental health rotations. Dr. Fambro serves as a preceptor for fourth year pharmacy
students from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University. Dr. Fambro has served as the CAVHCS PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency
Program Director since 2015.

Autumn Gordon, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCGP

Dr. Gordon received a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science from Indiana University before graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree
from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2007. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with
Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. Dr. Gordon joined the pharmacy staff at CAVHCS in 2015 as a PACT Clinical
Pharmacy Specialist where she provides medication management services for patients with various diseases encountered in the
ambulatory setting.  She accepts APPE students from Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University for their ambulatory care
rotations and serves as preceptor for the ambulatory care rotations at CAVHCS.

Molly Howard, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP

Dr. Howard received a BA in Biology from Carleton College before obtaining her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Creighton
University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Durham
VA Medical Center in Durham, NC, and a PGY-2 Specialty Residency in Ambulatory Care with the University of North Carolina Medical
Center and UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Howard currently serves as a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT)
Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at CAVHCS. She is an affiliate faculty member for the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy
and serves as a residency preceptor for ambulatory care rotations. She is currently serving as the Residency Program Coordinator.

Jasmine Howell, Pharm.D.

Dr. Howell graduated in 2015 with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University. Following graduation, she completed
a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with a mental health focus at Apalachee Medical Center located in Tallahassee, FL in 2016.
Dr. Howell joined CAVHCS in late 2016 as an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. In addition to her staffing duties, she serves
as the primary resource on the interdisciplinary team to the High Intensity Psychiatric Unit (HIPU).  She currently serves as the
co-preceptor for PGY-1 residents during their psychiatry and longitudinal inter-professional mental health rotations.

LeAndrea Johnson, Pharm.D., BCPS

Dr. Johnson previously served as residency preceptor for the Home Based Primary Care and Community Living Center rotations.
After receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M in 2008, she accepted a position at Baptist Medical Center East
in Montgomery, AL. In 2011, she joined the staff of CAVHCS as an acute care pharmacist on the Montgomery campus and then
later transitioned into a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist position for the long-term care facility in Tuskegee. More recently,
Dr. Johnson accepted the position of Associate Chief of Inpatient Pharmacy Services at CAVHCS.

Cain Eric Kirk, Pharm.D., BCACP

Dr. Kirk earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in May 2015 and a
BS degree in Biology from Jacksonville State University in 2011 – War Eagle and Go Gamecocks! He completed a PGY-1
Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS in June 2016; he also completed the requirements for his teaching certificate
through the Resident Teaching and Learning Program offered through the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University
in June 2016. After completion of his residency, he continued his appointment with CAVHCS and is currently a Patient
Aligned Care Team (PACT) Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in primary care.

Lauren Massingill, Pharm.D., BCGP

Dr. Massingill earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2013.
After graduation, she completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS.  Upon completion of her residency,
Dr. Massingill continued her career at CAVHCS as an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Specialist providing care for patients
admitted to the High Intensity Psychiatric Unit and the Community Living Center.   Dr. Massingill is an affiliate faculty
member for Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and Hampton University School of Pharmacy. 

Kelly Mooney, Pharm.D., BCPS

Dr. Mooney earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University.  She earned her Doctor
of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2012. Upon graduation, she completed a
PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.  Following residency, she accepted a
position with CAVHCS as an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Specialist.  In 2016, she transitioned in to a Geriatric PACT Clinical
Pharmacy Specialist position, where she serves as a resident preceptor and project mentor.

Lynsey Neighbors, Pharm.D., BCPS

Dr. Neighbors served as the CAVHCS PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director from the program’s inception in 2012
until 2016. She was selected in 2015 for the Associate Chief of Clinical Pharmacy Services. She received a BS in Biology
from the University of Alabama before graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Harrison School of Pharmacy,
Auburn University in 2006. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with East Alabama Medical
Center and Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy.  Dr. Neighbors joined the pharmacy staff at CAVHCS in 2009
as a diabetes clinical specialist and then later transitioned into a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) clinical specialist position
where she provided medication management services for patients with various diseases encountered in the ambulatory setting.
Previously, she served as the clinical specialist for the Hepatitis C clinic.  She acts as preceptor for the residents’ annual project
and presentations as well as for the pharmacy leadership elective. She also accepts fourth year pharmacy students from the
Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University.

Jessi Parker, Pharm.D., BCACP

Dr. Parker received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Auburn University. After graduation, she accepted
a position with Southeast IV Homecare. In 1999, she joined the staff of Southeastern Cardiology Consultants, PC as a clinical pharmacist
and clinical research coordinator. Dr. Parker has been at CAVHCS since 2004 and is currently a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT)
Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. She serves as clinical preceptor for the ambulatory care rotations. 

Shelley Pooler, Pharm.D., MPH

Dr. Pooler received a BS in Chemistry from Auburn University before graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the
Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2005. She went on to work in retail and hospital pharmacy before accepting
a position as a clinical pharmacist at CAVHCS in 2008 and then later transitioning into a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist position a
few years later. Dr. Pooler currently serves as a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the
Wiregrass VA Outpatient Clinic located at the Fort Rucker Army Military Base where she provides medication management
services for patients with various disease states encountered in the ambulatory care setting.  She serves as a preceptor for
the ambulatory care rotations at CAVHCS where she provides a unique opportunity to teach and mentor pharmacy students
and residents in a VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic setting.

Addison Ragan, Pharm.D., BCPS

Dr. Ragan graduated from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2000. After graduation, she joined the staff
of CAVHCS as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in ambulatory care. From 2004 to 2009 she served as clinical coordinator for the
CAVHCS pharmacy department and then later became the Associate Chief, Clinical Pharmacy in 2009. She currently serves as
the Academic Detailing Pharmacist Program Manager for Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 7 covering all of Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Dr. Ragan serves on multiple VA pharmacy committees at the local, regional, and national level. She serves as preceptor for the academic detailing elective rotation.

Lauren Rass, Pharm.D., BCPS

Dr. Rass earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama,
in 2012. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS in 2013. After residency, Dr. Rass joined CAVHCS as
an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Specialist before transitioning to the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) clinical specialist position in 2014. She provides medication management services for patients with various diseases encountered in the ambulatory setting as well as Hepatitis C.  She is a clinical preceptor for the ambulatory care rotations. She also accepts fourth year pharmacy students from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University for their ambulatory care rotations and serves on the Women’s Health
Committee at CAVHCS.

Eileen M. Sordo, Pharm.D., BCPP

Dr. Sordo earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Touro College of Pharmacy in New York City in 2013. After graduation, she
completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Miami Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Miami, FL in 2014. In 2015, she completed a Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency at the Western NY Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Buffalo, NY.  Dr. Sordo has been the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) at CAVHCS since August 2015. She precepts residents during their psychiatry II rotation.

Sarah Sutton, Pharm.D.

Dr. Sutton earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, in 2013.
She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at CAVHCS in Montgomery, AL. After residency, Dr. Sutton joined CAVHCS as the
Diabetes Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. Her main responsibilities include management of complicated diabetic patients, specifically, but
not limited to patients on insulin pumps and treated with U-500 insulin. She is a Medtronic Certified Insulin Pump trainer and serves as
the clinical pharmacist for the CAVHCS Endocrinology Clinic.  Dr. Sutton is an affiliate faculty member for Auburn University Harrison
School of Pharmacy and Hampton University School of Pharmacy and serves as the preceptor for the diabetes elective.

Pamela Stamm, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP, CDE  

Dr. Stamm is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University. She was born in Cape Girardeau,
Missouri, and received her B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Saint Louis College of Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri. She completed her
Doctor of Pharmacy at Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina in 1996. Following graduation, she completed
one year of post-doctoral training as a Primary Care Resident at The Medical Center and Lakeland Family Practice, Jackson, Mississippi.
She joined the faculty of Auburn University’s James I. Harrison School of Pharmacy in 1997. She joined CAVHCS in 2006 after
previously providing services in a Family Medicine Residency program and the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center.
At CAVHCS Dr. Stamm serves as a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. She is active in Alabama Society
of Health System Pharmacists, American Society of Health System Pharmacists, and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

Jason Thomas, Pharm.D.

Dr. Thomas joined the staff of CAVHCS in 2012 as an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice
Residency with East Alabama Medical Center and the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2012. He received his Doctor
of Pharmacy degree from Auburn University as well. He received the Making a Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID) advanced
stewardship certification in May 2013.   He is active on several committees at CAVHCS including: Patient Safety, Critical Care, and
Infection Control. Dr. Thomas is the residency preceptor for the critical care/infectious disease rotation.

Lisa Thornton, Pharm.D., BCPS

Dr. Thornton is a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. She is a 1997 graduate of the Harrison School of
Pharmacy, Auburn University and completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency conducted at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare
System in Nashville, TN. She has worked in numerous pharmacy clinics since joining the staff of CAVHCS in 1998 and has been a
board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist since 2004. She precepts residents and student pharmacists during their ambulatory
care rotations and she serves on the Pharmacy Standards Board at CAVHCS.

 

Rachel Whitney, Pharm.D.

Dr. Whitney received a BS in Biology from Auburn University Montgomery in 2012 before graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy
degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in 2016. She worked in retail at Winn-Dixie before accepting a
position at CAVHCS as the Co-Managed Care Pharmacist based out of Columbus, GA, in 2017. She now serves Veterans from the
Columbus and Fort Benning areas and aids in the transition of Non-VA medications into the VA system.

 

Crystal H. Wood, Pharm.D., BCACP

Dr. Wood is the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for all Home Based Primary Care Clinics throughout CAVHCS.  In 2003, Dr. Wood received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.  In 2004, she completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.  She came to CAVHCS in 2010 to serve as the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Geriatric Primary Care and Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) and in 2013 transitioned to her current role in the HBPC Clinics.  Dr. Wood provides medication therapy management services to all HBPC patients including:  diabetes, hypertension, lipids, thyroid disorders, anemia, anticoagulation and more.  She also serves on the interdisciplinary team for each of the three HBPC Clinics.  She has served an Affiliate Clinical Professor for Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University since 2004, precepting 4th year pharmacy students.
